How to fix stripped hinges on a screen door.
The wrong way is a temporary fix not cool.
Another hint is to use a long screw in one of the holes in the top most hinge long enough to penetrate the stud.
Remove the screws that hold the loose hinge leaf to the door jamb.
Start with the obvious option.
This is not how i usually would do this fix but thought people would like the mi.
If the hinge and jamb are painted cut the paint around the leaf with a utility knife swing the leaf away from the jamb.
For example if the stripped out screw was a 6 try replacing it with a 8.
After you have done that put them in the hole that is stripped.
This long screw transfers more holding power to the stud and puts less stress on the jamb itself.
Give the hole time to dry before you replace the screws and hinge.
Open the door wide and insert a wedge under the bottom outside corner to level it.
One way to fix the stripped hole is to take one or two cardboard matches and dip them into either white glue or wood glue.
After time the weight of the door will pull on the hinge and cause the door not to hang straight.
