Use a lock assembly kit to mount the new lock on the inside of the door.
Replacing the lock or handle on a garage door can be accomplished with the appropriate tools.
With the latch assembly in place slide the door handle with the attached cylinder into place.
Attach the bolt and pin with screws.
Center and level the first section after you install the brackets.
Insert the new latch into the opening with the tapered side facing the direction you will push the door to close it.
In some cases door latch plate mortises might need to be cut or enlarged.
Install the new lock according to the manufacturer s instructions.
Loosen the machine screws on the handle base plate using the appropriate screwdriver.
You ll need a helping hand on the other side of the door to help run the lock through to the other side.
It must line up with the holes in the latch assembly to function properly.
Avoid damage to the screws by using a hand screwdriver.
Pull the handle away from the face of the door and spray a generous amount of lubricant on the inner.
The rubber gasket on the bottom section will fill the gaps created by an unlevel floor.
Remove the two screws from the latch plate on the edge of the door and remove the latch from the opening.
Check that the new latch plate fits the recessed area and is flush with the surface of the door.
The door must be level even if the floor isn t so use shims under the section to level it.
